    • Putting power in perspective - 4615 whp Twin Garrett GTX5533R GEN II 88mm turbocharged 520ci Hemi powered pro mod drag car

Street cars are getting incredibly powerful as we all know and we all drool over what the aftermarket is able to get out of some these cars. However, even the big horsepower Nissan GT-R's and Lamborghini Huracans do not hold a candle to what goes on in professional drag racing.

This is a car well over 5000 thousand horsepower. The Mainline dyno measured it at 4615 horsepower at the hubs.

The 520 cubic inch Hemi V8 motor is built by Xtreme Racing Engines and you can definitely call this extreme:

What does it run the 1/4 mile in? 5.86 at 248 miles per hour.

The motor goes into a '69 Chevy Camaro look body but obviously this has little to do with an actual '69 Camaro.

It won the Pro Mod NHRA class in 2018 and is looking to do it again in 2019. Read more about the car here if you like: https://dragillustrated.com/defendin...title-in-2019/

Suddenly those twin turbo Huracans don't look so fast, huh?

UGR released some incredible videos this weekend that offer some perspective on the acceleration of their cars so imagining those runs with 2000+ additional whp is mind blowing.

        Thanks for posting, super cool.

For whatever it’s worth, those times were also run at Bandimere which is a mile above sea level.

I remember seeing cars like this at Deeds performance when Anthony@ACF used to work there and build them. Usually about 4-6k whp builds with over $300k into them.

Josh is still building these beasts for sure! He likes to stay low key, not a fan of forums and online theories LOL. He knows what works and what doesn't.

guys not for nothing though the gtr's are probably in the 3000ish whp neighborhood now, and thats out of 6 cylinders. On top of that they have gone 220+ in the 1/4 in a much heavier chassis. Its just an unbelieveable time in the car industry. Basically any sports car north of 100k will run 10's stock and several cars over 700hp stock.

Traction means lower trap but quicker time. If those GTRs hooked they'd probably do 6.2@200mph in the 1/4.

for sure, the record is 6.58, who knows how far it can go while still a dct and awd. I doubt ever in the 5's while still the factory chassis but i do think 6.3x well be the max
