    • Ultima Sports releases new Ultima RS supercar with LT1, LT4, and LT5 power you can build yourself

Many of you are familiar with the British built Ultima GTR kit car. The company essentially provides a lightweight supercar you can build yourself. Well, they released a new model they are calling the Ultima RS and wow is it a stunner.

This is not car about looks. It is about performance. Everything is designed with the absolute highest performance threshold in mind. How fast you want to go is really up to you and the powerplant you choose.

An LT1 V8 not enough for you? Go for an LT4. Not enough? You can put an LT5 with as much horsepower as you really want in it. The car only weighs 2050 pounds depending on options.

Does it comes with a PDK?

No, the Ultima RS is a real driver’s car and therefore is only available with a six speed manual shift gearbox and a clutch pedal.

The PDK system seen on many cars nowadays is not in keeping with the ethos of an Ultima, which was primarily designed to maximize driver engagement and to provide an old school Le Mans inspired thrill like no other road going sports car in the world. We aren’t interested in the dulled down mass market driving experience and therefore the Ultima RS will always be a manual shift supercar to cater for those true driving enthusiasts who appreciate and indeed crave this philosophy.
If you do not respect that answer you are not an enthusiast.

The lead time on turnkey builds is two years so you are best off building your own from a kit which is cheaper anyway.

Hopefully a LHD version for US market.

High quality gel coat can come in multiple colors. White looks awesome, but Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, etc. Gel Coat has come a long ways, just look at the performance boat industry.

        I missed the price?
Maybe hold off on the new Mid-engine Corvette.

From what I read, the price is closer to about $75K and that is with the base engine. If you want it with the LT5, it will cost more. The big issue from what I've read is that the car is not street legal in the US. You can only drive the car on a track. How do you get it certified to drive on the street?

Yeah, no chance to get this road legal anywhere in Europe...

Reminds me of the Radical RXC a little bit...would give a kidney for one of those!

The kit itself should be less though. Depending on the motor the price can really range.

In California there is SB100 which allows you to register 500 cars a year that are 'specially constructed' vehicles.

This is how you get things like an Ariel Atom street legal.

It's the one and only cool thing about the California DMV.

Pretty sure most if not all states have some form of "kit car" exemption where you can make them street legal.
